We are a group of artists, cultural workers and friends who meet and discuss ways in which we can raise public awareness about and provide support for asylum seekers both in Woomera and Adelaide.

VISA operates as a hub where individuals and groups working to support asylum seekers can meet and exhange their ideas and projects share concerns, resources, and ways of working together. We are a departure point for new ideas and projects. We seek to network with other groups with similar aims and objectives, locally, nationally and internationally.

VISA meetings operate by consensus whilst allowing individual and group projects to maintain maximum autonomy.

Visa organises social events in conjunction with the Refugee Association to offer the chance for members to become familiar wtih people who have suffered dispossesion and incarceration. This also provides a space for members to get to know each other outside of the context of a meeting.

Some of the projects v-i-s-a-s is now working on include:
+ freedom key walk - wear a key, be key creative, make key sounds
+ Exhibitions of work from detainees and refugee suporters in shop windows of Hindley St.
+ collection of telephone cards for asylum seekers - both detained and recently released
+ production of flyers for distribution
